LNG

The liquefication of natural gas enables it to be shipped and stored but keeping gas in a liquefied form presents challenges as it must be maintained at -162degC.

Ledwood provides project management, manufacture and installation of pipework, tanks and mechanical engineering for the LNG sector.

Ledwood was instrumental in the construction of the UK’s first three LNG import terminals: South Hook, Dragon and Isle of Grain. In the case of South Hook, we carried out the detail design during the construction of the structural steelwork and pipework for the separate tank and jetty packages. The fabrication, construction and testing of all pipework on the jetty was predominantly Stainless Steel Cryogenic Pipework. The success of the initial works led to the award of all mechanical works in the process area.
